I served with 176 Air Dispatch Coy at Nui Dat in 1969-70. I went on several operations establishing fire support bases. One in particular, “Diggers Rest” brings back traumatic memories for me when a Chinook crashed just outside the wire on the 30th August 1969, just 3 days after my 21st birthday. I was in radio contact with the chopper when it went down.
